1. Design of control systems:
- manual control systems for power generators, motor pumps, and welding units
- automatic starting systems for power generators by controlling the power grid voltage or by a remote start signal
- synchronous operation of power generators
- automation systems for cooling, ventilation and fuel supply installations of power generators
- monitoring and remote control systems for power generators via RS232, RS485, LAN and preparing signals for BMS systems
- notification systems about power generator statuses via the GSM network via SMS.
2. Design and implementation of power and control cabinets:
- power generator control cabinets
- ATS cabinets (Automatic Transfer Switching) based on contactors or motor-driven circuit breakers and switches
- power supply and reception switchboards
3. Adaptation of power generators, control systems and power supply and control cabinets to customer requirements, individual configuration of power generator controllers.
4. Selection of cables, wires and accessories for electrical installations.
The use of full automation allows the power generator to be protected against any failures that may occur during its operation.
In addition to increasing the reliability of the emergency power supply, it allows the power outage to be shortened to the minimum necessary. If the power generator unit is installed in a container or room, it enables automatic opening of the air intake and exhaust shutters and refilling the unit’s tank from an external tank.
Generator controller
- displays all electrical parameters of the generator power supply
- informs and protects against emergency states
- informs about the need to perform periodic inspections
- monitors the presence of mains power and automatically starts the power generator
- enables monitoring and supervision of the power generator via a computer network
- records the history of power generator operation events
Selection of power generators
The power of the power generator must be appropriately selected depending on the power and type of receivers. The following data is necessary to properly select the power of the generator:
- location and operating conditions of the unit
- type of power generator operation (basic power supply – continuous operation, emergency power supply – occasional operation)
- power of receivers powered by the power generator
- type of receivers: single-phase or three-phase
- power of the largest electric engine and its starting method
- nature of receivers: resistive (heaters, light bulbs), inductive (motors, fluorescent lamps), non-linear (UPS, inverters, computer devices)
- method of connecting receivers after switching to power supply from the power generator (manual, automatic simultaneous, automatic with delays)
- planned power reserve
Additionally, the following information is needed to select the power generator unit’s automation:
- starting type: manual or automatic
- cooperation with ATS system
- monitoring option
Incorrect selection of the power generator may result in the power generator not covering the power demand of the receivers and will result in unjustified emergency shutdowns by the generator’s safety devices.
In extreme cases, incorrect selection may result in damage to the power generator generator – overload of the neutral wire due to failure to take into account the uniformity of the load on the phases of a three-phase power generator by single-phase receivers or odd harmonic components in non-linear receivers.
Selection of ATS system:
Data needed for the proper selection of the ATS system:
- power of receivers powered from the network
- power of receivers powered by the power generator
- switching mode: manual or automatic
- type of control: own or external (power generator controller)
- method of connecting receivers after switching to power supply from the power generator (manual, automatic simultaneous, automatic with delays)
